What is Hybrid Homeschooling?
A Christian Hybrid Homeschooling Pod is where the values of homeschool meet small classroom setting focusing on teaching Biblical worldview.
We hire Christian private tutors to teach Reading, Writing, Literature, History, Science and a little bit of Math in a small classroom setting on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The structure of a classroom is intended to ease the transitions of families into the mainstream education system.
While the new material is delivered in the classroom, the parents will still act as the main supervisor on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Our Story
SEEDS in the Pod exists to serve the homeschooling community in the Southwest Pittsburgh area. Andrew & Nike fell in love with the hybrid homeschooling model from Gideon Study Center; we provide the curriculum, classrooms and tutors while parents give their commitment and time to supervise their children's progress. SEEDS aims to provide structure and academic rigor that will produce learning resiliency and independence for the homeschooling students to transition smoothly into the mainstream education system.
Our families pull our time and resources together to welcome and serve the children as Jesus instructed in Matthew 18:5; equip them with a Biblical worldview according to the Scripture (2 Timothy 3:16-4:5); educate them (Proverbs 22:6). All for the sake of training them to be disciples of Christ (Matthew 28:18-20) that He sends into the world (Matthew 10:16).
Statement of Faith
The following Christian beliefs shall be taught and shall be reflected in the policies and practices of SEEDS in a Pod at all grade levels.
About the Bible
We believe that the Bible, consisting of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is the Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit, inerrant in the original writings, infallible, and the final authority in matters of faith and life. We believe that the Bible derives its authority from God its author, and not from the opinions of men.
About the Trinity
We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe the God we serve is the creator and sustainer of all things, and the source of all truth. He is all powerful, all knowing, holy, righteous, just, good, loving, and full of mercy.
About God's sovereignty
We believe that God upholds, disposes, and governs all creatures, actions and things, and that God, in His ordinary providence, makes use of means, yet is free to work without, above, or against them at His pleasure.
About Sin & Fall of Humanity
We believe that because of Adam’s sin all mankind is in rebellion against God. For the salvation of such lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely necessary.
About Jesus Christ
We believe in the true deity and full humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe in His virgin birth, in his sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood on the cross, in His bodily resurrection from the dead, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
About Salvation, Faith & Grace
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ alone, and that good works, done in obedience to God’s commandments, are the necessary fruits and evidences of a true and lively faith.
About the Holy Spirit
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
About the resurrection
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: those who are saved to the resurrection of life and those who are lost to the resurrection of damnation.
About marriage and gender
We believe that God created Adam and Eve – one man and one woman according to His image to have dominion over the Earth in His stead – Male and female, He created them. Thus, we aim to educate young boys to be godly men and young girls to be godly women prepared to maintain the stance that marriage is between one man and one woman as outlined in the Bible by God as the author of the marriage institution. (Genesis 1-2). We reject the views that the definition or classifications of gender according to the authority of oneself or any governing bodies that is inconsistent with the male and female gender identification as established by God himself according to the Bible in Genesis 1:26-27.
